THE APPRAISAL · PHOENIX

Phoenix help, one course at a time.

Studying one course at a time reads like the gentle option, and for a term it is. Across a degree it is something else, because the sequence never stops long enough for anything to be caught up in. There is no light week anywhere in the structure, only the next course.

One course, then the nextParticipation across daysDrafts a day early

The gap between courses is where the plan lives or dies

A five or six week course is short enough to sprint through, and the format encourages exactly that. What it does not encourage is stopping, because the following course opens almost immediately and the sprint simply resumes.

So the arithmetic that matters here is annual rather than weekly. Twelve to fifteen hours a week is perfectly manageable for six weeks and quite different sustained across two years with no break in it. Students who plan a deliberate pause between two courses, once or twice a year, finish more often than students who plan none.

Participation is spread across days on purpose

It is graded, and in most courses it cannot be satisfied in one sitting. The requirement is usually to contribute on several separate days of the week, which means a busy stretch cannot be repaired by a long Sunday evening no matter how much you write in it.

Knowing that before a difficult week rather than during one is what makes it useful. Three brief appearances spread across the days will outscore a single long one, so the habit worth building is small and frequent rather than substantial and late.

The signature assignment is most of the grade

Most courses here end in one substantial piece that carries a large share of the grade, and it is described at the start. Read it in the first days and treat every week's work as material for it, because much of that work genuinely is.

Students who write it in the final week are writing it from nothing. Students who have been collecting sources, arguments and examples toward it since week one are assembling. The work is identical in quantity and completely different in quality, and the difference is a decision made in the first three days.

Prior training is worth more here than people assume

Professional certifications, employer training and previous study are all considered in the credit evaluation, and a surprising number of students never submit the documentation because they assume only transcripts count.

Ask for the evaluation before you enrol rather than afterwards, and send everything you have: certificates, completed employer programs, previous study. In a structure that takes one course at a time, a course removed from the sequence is five or six weeks removed from the end of your degree, and that arithmetic is worth doing properly.

What the house takes on for Phoenix students

The weekly participation layer, individual assignments, the signature assignment, whole courses, and the sequences in nursing, business and education. Each piece is in your hands a day before it is due, and it goes in from your account rather than ours.

Name the course and the weeks left in it, since a five-week course after week three is a different problem from the same course in week one. The costing arrives inside two hours with every element separated, and it will always propose the smallest thing that solves it, which is often nothing more than the participation layer.

The lines we do not cross at Phoenix

Participation that carries marks has to come from the person being marked, so nobody here posts as you. Nor is any assessment taken in your name, nor any account opened. These are settled before an appraisal is even drafted.

Questions the desk is asked.

Is one course at a time genuinely easier?

For a single term, yes. Across a degree it is a different question, because the next course opens almost as soon as the last one closes and nothing in the structure creates a light week. Twelve to fifteen hours weekly is comfortable for six weeks and demanding sustained across two years without a break.

How is participation actually graded?

By contributions spread across separate days rather than by volume, in most courses. That is why a difficult week cannot be repaired on Sunday evening however much you write. Three short appearances during the week reliably outscore one long one, so build the habit small and frequent rather than substantial and late.

When should I start the signature assignment?

In the first few days, by reading its description and treating each week's work as material for it. Much of the weekly work genuinely is. Written that way the final week is assembly; left to the end it is composition from nothing, and the quantity of work is identical either way.

How do I stop the sequence running me into the ground?

Put one pause into the plan on purpose, once or twice a year, taken between courses rather than during one. The structure will never offer you a light week, so the only rest available is rest you scheduled. People who plan it finish more often than people who wait for the format to provide it.

Is my employer training worth credit?

More often than students assume, and many never submit it because they think only transcripts count. Send certifications, completed employer programs and any previous study, and ask for the evaluation before enrolling. In a sequential structure each course removed takes five or six weeks off the end of the degree.
